What Shapes and Sizes of Breast Implants Are Available?

Written by - Dr. Studin

Answer: Breast implants come in various sizes but are generally available in two shapes: teardrop and round.

Round implants are the most commonly used, as different types can be adjusted for varying projections. Round implants are best suited for women who want more fullness at the top part of the breast; they will lift and provide a more pronounced cleavage. Unlike teardrop implants, round implants are symmetrical and do not rotate easily.

Teardrop implants have a sloped contour that fills out more on the bottom than the top. These look more natural as they mimic the breast’s natural slope. However, teardrop implants are more likely to rotate so a textured implant is recommended. Teardrop implants generally have a greater projection than round implants.
